ARTCOM 84, Fred Forest à la TV en Israël
Natan Karczmar and I organised a colloquium at the ENSBA (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts) in Paris, bringing together around fifteen artists including Marc Deanjean, Mitropoulos and Alain Snyers, and as many theoreticians including Vilém Flusser, Bernard Teyssèdre and Mario Borillo, under the name Artcom.
Natan Karczmar worked with me to organise a symposium at the ENSBA (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts) in Paris, bringing together some fifteen artists, including Marc Deanjean, Mitropoulos and Alain Snyers, and as many theoreticians, including Vilém Flusser, Bernard Teyssèdre and Mario Borillo, under the name Artcom. With his multiple talents, including those of organiser, the artist and theoretician Natan Karczmar has, so to speak, exported his concept to Israel in a series of cities including Jerusalem, Haifa and Tel Aviv, inviting the video artist Antony Muntadas and Fred Forest to take part. We have here an Israeli TV programme produced for the occasion, presented by Natan Karczmar to the audience.
LONG BIOGRAPHY OF FRED FOREST
Fred Forest has a special place in contemporary art. Both by his personality and by his pioneering practices which mark his work. He is mainly known today for having used one by one most of the communication media that have appeared over the last fifty years. He is co-founder of three artistic movements: those of sociological art, the aesthetics of communication and ethics in art.
He represented France at the 12th São Paulo Biennale (Communication Prize) in 1973, at the 37th Venice Biennale in 1976 and at Documenta 6 in Kassel in 1977.
