Presentation
This exhibition, in which Fred Forest is taking part, is historic in the sense that it is the very first exhibition devoted to video to be presented in France, even before any of the institutions... It was commissioned from two American producers, Robert Stefanotty and Ana Canepa, by Christiane and Eric Germain, two avant-garde Parisian gallery owners back in 1973. As you can see from the invitation, it was made up exclusively of pioneering American artists, the only Frenchman already recognised in the USA being Fred Forest. During this exhibition Douglas Davis and Fred Forest worked on a joint project to exchange news items across the Atlantic, which never saw the light of day due to a lack of funds. A few months later, Suzanne Pagé and Dany Bloch organised an event dedicated to video under the name Arc Confrontation for the city's Musée d'art moderne, to which Nam June Paik and Fred Forest were invited. This exhibition will be the first institutional event devoted to video in France.

He is co-founder of three artistic movements: those of sociological art, the aesthetics of communication and ethics in art.
He represented France at the 12th São Paulo Biennale (Communication Prize) in 1973, at the 37th Venice Biennale in 1976 and at Documenta 6 in Kassel in 1977.
