The creation of the tokenised M2 is a continuation of the original Territoire concept, following on from the logical development of the initial M2, created in 1975 near the Swiss border in France near Annemasse, at a place called "Chez Mermier".

The creation of the tokenized M2 is a continuation of the original Territoire concept, following the logical development of the original M2, created in 1975 near the Swiss border in France, near Annemasse, at a place called "Chez Mermier". In 1979, it became known as the Territoire du M2 when it was established at Anserville in the Oise region. It was accompanied by a 1000 M2 plot of land and buildings. The M2's land is devoted to actions of all kinds, both in France and abroad, while the buildings house the 11-room government headquarters. Each of these rooms is reserved for specific functions of this state, self-proclaimed and created from scratch by the artist. Over the last 50 years (half a century in fact), the actions produced around this concept have helped to give this art concept and the works produced an existence and a strong historical recognition.

LONG BIOGRAPHY OF FRED FOREST
Fred Forest has a special place in contemporary art. Both by his personality and by his pioneering practices which mark his work. He is mainly known today for having used one by one most of the communication media that have appeared over the last fifty years. He is co-founder of three artistic movements: those of sociological art, the aesthetics of communication and ethics in art.
He represented France at the 12th São Paulo Biennale (Communication Prize) in 1973, at the 37th Venice Biennale in 1976 and at Documenta 6 in Kassel in 1977.
